Lofts at Riverwalk
Located at the Lofts of Riverwalk in Columbus, Georgia, this project involved the adaptive reuse of a 1920’s gymnasium that was left unoccupied for a number of years. With a sizable portion of Military residents, it was important to our client that the 10,000 square foot gym building served a variety of needs with an emphasis on forging community.
Our continuous coordination with the ownership team throughout the design process was key to ensuring our plan embodied their desire for strengthening community. Through collaboration with the owners, fitness equipment specialists, and residents, our team organized a collection of spaces designed around fitness, health & wellness, and recreation.
The program offers an array of activities contiguous to health & wellness such as a CrossFit Gym, Cardio Platform, Turf Area, and Boxing Room. Also included are unique features like a Golf Simulator Room, Yoga Fitness Studio, and outdoor Ping Pong area that appeal to a diverse range of residents. Finally, lounges and seating areas are integrated as a way to facilitate conversing or relaxing with neighbors.
Our adaptive reuse of the Lofts at Riverwalk Gym effectively delivers the modern updates and amenities expected by young residents while celebrating the building’s history and industrial aesthetic. The result of this renovation is a place that fosters the feeling of community among neighbors.
