kipp soul gymnasium
Part of a national network of college-preparatory, public charter schools, KIPP Soul Primary School has experienced constant growth since its founding in 2018. In an effort to continue growing their capacity for students, KIPP reached out to TAP-DG in search of a solution. Our design team worked closely with KIPP and Atlanta Public Schools to develop a comprehensive plan to expand their existing educational and recreational facilities at the KIPP Soul Primary School campus in Southwest Atlanta.
After remaining unoccupied for years, the neglected 19,000 SF gymnasium required extensive restoration of all existing systems to bring it up to today’s standards. The renovated building now includes classrooms, offices, flexible multi-purpose spaces, locker rooms and a fully equipped gym. TAP’s team was able to successfully deliver a design that fulfilled the specific needs and preferences of the individual school and district while adhering to a limited budget that is often associated with projects funded by tax dollars.
TAP’s design approach involved careful planning and execution to ensure that the spaces created were functional, safe, and met the needs of both students and instructors. Given the evolving nature of educational policies and pedagogical approaches, our team’s ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, students, parents, as well as relevant government agencies enabled us to deliver a high-quality design that meets educational objectives, inspires student engagement, and reflects the educational mission of KIPP Public Schools.
